Product Description
A technology package, with in-service, on-line monitoring applications, that applies key AE testing principles to power transformers. PowerPACTM detects, locates and assess not only particle discharge in power transformers, but also thermal faults by utilizing AE technology. Once transformers are instrumented with AE a sensor covering the tank and other necessary components, data is collected over a 24-hour period. Results are presented to show location and type of faults, as well as a grading system used for each fault and provides an overall evaluation of the transformer for maintenance and operational planning moving forward. PowerPACTM was developed under an EPRI (Electric Power Research Institute) sponsored collaboration.
