Spiral Wound Elements
Operated in a Crossflow TFF system, membrane elements are perfect for scaling up from flat sheet membranes to conduct more comparative testing prior to pilot scale. Ideal for small-scale production, feasibility studies, and product or process development. Elements should be tested under a combination of feed flow rates, permeate flux, operating pressure, and temperatures in order to determine optimal application conditions
Sterlitech currently offers commercially available spiral wound membrane elements in a wide range of MWCO, membrane material and surface properties.
| Material | Features | Applications | Pore Size (μm) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reverse Osmosis (RO) Elements | Made from Polyamide or Cellulose acetate blend for various applications. Some membranes are chlorine resistant | Brackish WaterIndustrial WaterSeawater | N/A |
| Nanofiltration (NF) Elements | Available in Polyamide, PES, & CA Blend that can operate at lower pressures and allow water and some salts to pass through the membrane while retaining proteins, ions, sugars, and other low molecular weight molecules. | Food & BeverageIndustrial WaterWastewaterDairy | 150Da - 2000Da |
| Ultrafiltration (UF) Elements | Available in PVDF, PAN, PA, PES material. More fouling resistant with higher flux. | Food & BeveragePharmaceuticalWastewaterDairy | 1kDa - 800kDa |
| Microfiltration (MF) Elements | Membranes for research, lab scale testing that are available in PVDF & PES material. | Able to remove large particulates and bacteria, while passing through proteins, sugars, and mono/multi-valent ions. | 0.05 um - 0.22 um |
